Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended his warm greetings and wished Grenada a happy and prosperous 50th Anniversary of Independence on Wednesday.
In an extensive social media post on Wednesday, PM Drew congratulated Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell and the people of Grenada on this auspicious occasion.
He said, “Today it brings me great pleasure to extend congratulations to my dear friend Hon. Dickon Mitchell and the people of Grenada as you celebrate half a century of resilience, unity, and progress as Grenada marks its 50th year of independence under the inspiring theme “One People, One Journey, One Future.”
Further, while recalling the remarkable journey of the previous five decades of the nation, PM Drew urged people to reminisce and honour the greatest accomplishments the country has made to shape themselves.
“As you reflect on the remarkable journey of the past five decades, I urge you to honour the sacrifices and achievements that have shaped Grenada into the vibrant nation it is Today,” he added.
He also emphasized that the theme “One People, One Journey, One Future” encapsulates the shared vision, where every citizen contributes to the collective prosperity and well-being of the nation.
He said that It symbolizes the resilience of the Grenadian spirit and the commitment to building a brighter future together.
At last, he wished for the successful celebration of their Independence, stating, “To our friends and partners in Grenada, may this milestone anniversary be a joyous celebration of achievements past and a launchpad for even greater successes in the years ahead. Happy Independence Day, Grenada.”
Notably, ‘Spice Isle,’ also known as Grenada, gained independence from Britain, and Eric Gairy became Grenada’s first prime minister in 1974.
