The St Kitts and Nevis government has delivered on their promise of giving affordable homes to the families across St Kitts and Nevis. In the last three years since Dr Terrance Drew and his team have taken office, 183 homes have been delivered.

These homes, fitted with modern, state of the art technology are constructed to withstand climate disturbances. Several families have been handed over homes in the last three years. More houses are also under construction in different parts of the country.

The aim of the Drew led government is to deliver climate smart, affordable housing to the people of the island nation. The Drew led administration wants to make sure that all the members of the community have access to affordable homes.

With hundreds of homes delivered and more than seventy homes under construction, PM Terrace Drew and his team are already delivering. As a small island state, judicial use of space in delivering affordable homes to the people also comes into play.

As such, Minister of Sustainable Development, Joyelle Clarke has highlighted the government’s plan to deliver compact, affordable and space friendly homes to the communities. This declaration comes in line with the government’s Sustainable Island State Agenda.

St Kitts and Nevis is the smallest island nation in the Caribbean. Bringing affordable housing to every citizen of St Kitts and Nevis means that the space that is available will have to be utilized efficiently.

The homes that the government has promised to the people of the country are being made in

similar dimensions. The dimensions of the homes will make sure that the Adminstration can deliver more to the people of the island using a sustainable amount of space.

The space that is available to the country is already limited and delivering housing to the people in that limited space is only possible if the space allocation is discussed smartly. The Sustainable Island State Agenda suggests optimization of land use to make sure every person has equal access to available resources.

Homes being created in a limited space with climate resilient sustainable features will be more practical for a country already facing the threat of climate change. As a small island nation, innovation is critical for the future growth of the nation as the generations continue to grow.
