Blake Lively’s request for Justin Baldoni’s phone records was rejected by a judge who called it “overly intrusive.” The request was made during the ongoing legal battle between the two actors, following Lively’s accusations of sexual harassment on the set of ‘It Ends With Us.’
The actress requested Baldoni’s phone records with his team, as she claimed that they were also involved in efforts to damage her reputation. To this, the judge responded on Friday, February 28th, 2025 that the request made was too broad and personal.
Baldoni’s attorney responded to this refusal and called it a ‘big win’. The attorney said that the Court saw their efforts for who they really are despite efforts by Lively’s team trying to change the decision.
Despite the refusal to gain access to Baldoni’s phone records, the judge gave Lively permission to seek similar information from those who might have been a part of Baldoni’s smear campaign to tarnish her reputation.
Reason for Lively’s request denial
The judge in her case, Liman said that although the request was only limited to Baldoni’s calls and messages, it could still reveal sensitive information, such as his calls and texts with doctors, psychologists, or any personal information.
Lively’s team responded to this refusal instantly and said that Baldoni and his team must be hiding something if they are trying so hard to conceal some information. Her spokesperson further said that in order to provide them with the contents of their request, the judge ruled that they can access the records if they submit more specific requests.
The legal battle
The legal battle between the two actors started in January 2024 after Blake Lively said that the working environment on the set of ‘It Ends With Us’ was unsafe for all the female actors and staff.
The actress said that Justin Baldoni had been sexually harassing her and is trying to destroy her reputation. The lawsuit filed by her stated that she has been suffering extreme stress because of her co-star’s actions.
