St. Kitts and Nevis will witness a historic moment at Warner Park stadium as Jahzara Claxton plays her first ODI match in her homeground. The 1st One Day International (ODI) is scheduled between The West Indies Women and Australia Women team on Friday 27 March 2026 at Basseterre.
Jahzara Claxton a Kittitan cricket player will make her home debut during this ODI match with the West Indies Women’s Cricket team. For the Federation her homecoming highlights a proud and inspiring moment. Because she will become the first player from St. Kitts to represent the West Indies at home in Warner park.
There will be three matches in this One Day International Series. The first match will be played on Friday March 27. The second match on Saturday March 28 and Thursday April 2, and all scheduled matches start at 2:00 pm at Warner Park.
According to officials her selection in the ODI team also marks a prominent milestone in St, Kitts and Nevis cricket and also in her personal career.
Tickets of the matches were also free for the public to give them an opportunity to witness this landmark occasion for the island. Officials also believe Claxton’s journey to the international stage highlights the island’s growth in local cricket development. And she serves as a motivation for upcoming and aspiring young athletes across the island.
Federation even encouraged fans to come out and turn out in full support to celebrate Claxton’s achievement. Also cheer for the West Indies Women Cricket Team as they were facing one of the strong teams, the Australian Women Cricket team.
Moreover, the island community is seeing the matches being hosted at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium as an event of national pride and not just as an international cricket tournament.
Additionally, Jahzara Claxton had, from an early age created the reputation as a multi-sport athlete. Before becoming a cricket player she competed in football and track and field games. Her athletic journey began with strong performances in regional competitions. She also played athletics at the CARIFTA Games tournament which reflects her natural and versatility in sports.
Claxton is a right-arm fast medium bowler, a left-handed batter and all rounder. The Federation saw her as a valuable asset in Caribbean Cricket. And apart from West Indies Women she represents others teams such as West Indies Under -19s, Barbados Royals Women, Leeward Islands Women, and Trinbago Knight Riders Women.
