Two Athletes from St Kitts and Nevis were awarded with track and field scholarships to Central Arizona Junior College and Mexico Junior College to pursue their higher education.

Newton T’anna Liburd

 A young lady by the name of Newton T’anna Liburd from SLH Pacesetters Hybrid of Athletics nailed a track and field scholarship to Central Arizona Junior College, Arizona, to pursue her education.

T’anna Liburd specialises in the 400m, Liburd showcased her exceptional skills at the 2023 Carifta Games in the Bahamas. 

This achievement not only reflected her devotion but also underlined the talent enabled within SLH Pacesetters Hybrid of Athletics. 

 Shamarie Kamarley Newton

In a remarkable journey of Shamarie Kamarley Newton towards advancing his athletic and academic pursuits, Shamarie Kamarley Newton bids farewell to his island home to embrace an athletics scholarship at New Mexico Junior College in the United States.

 Newton claimed the title of the top junior sprinter in both the 100m and 200m events in 2023, showcasing amazing talent and dedication on the track.

 His success not only reflects personal dedication but also mirrors the unwavering support from his club, Over The Top TC, and the guidance of his renowned coach, Kurvin Wallace, an Olympian of 1996

Additionally, Prime Minister Dr Terrance unveiled how the government of St Kitts and Nevis has been working to make education available and idle at an affordable price. 

He highlighted how St Kitts and Nevis have entered into a partnership with Southern University, with Miss St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival receiving a scholarship to study at the mentioned university. 

Furthermore, the govnement also partnered with the Taiwan government on edifying the education of Twins Island by providing one on one laptop program. 

The St Kitts and Nevis sports committee have extended heartfelt graduation to the two nationals as they look to start their journey out of the Twins Island.
