New Horizons Juvenile Rehabilitation Center (NHRC) received Books, food and sports equipment from the St Kitts-Nevis Bar Association.
In celebration of the declared Youth Month, teenagers residing at New Horizons Youth Rehabilitation Center received equipment and suppliers to help them in running the centre
Director of NHRC, Adele Wiliams, gave an overview of the aid and explained that the association had previously offered to provide the centre with items useful for rehabilitation work and later agreed to provide exercise equipment and self-improvement books, which the caseworkers of the centre.
She noted that the legal organization had been a consistent partner of the centre, making a matching donation last year and regularly providing legal services to its residents who cannot afford legal representation.
She thanked Association President Kurlyn Merchant, Vice President/Project Coordinator Edisah Greene, and Association representatives present at the ceremony for their support, namely Rhonda Nisbett-Browne, Deniece Alleyne, Ms. Talibah Byron and Miss Siobhan Phipps, Horsford’s Valu Mart and TDC, who generously supported the food and exercise equipment required by the Bar Association.
Lawyer Deniece Alleyne noted that as a lawyer, the organization was pleased to collaborate with the centre to help youth in conflict with the law and support their rehabilitation, especially since the fraternity is celebrating its Legal Action Week.
Deniece Alleyne was heartbroken by the recent crimes at the association. He stated that the organization hopes to be part of the future success of the residents who eventually graduate from the centre and positively reintegrate into society.
Similar sentiments were expressed by Adelay Browne, marketing manager of Horsford’s Valu Mart, who said the company was happy to support the centre’s young people to create a more positive future.
At the end of the ceremony, Williams invited the partners to attend the upcoming 10th anniversary of the New Horizons Rehabilitation Center, celebrated in December 2023 with many agencies integral to the centre’s continued success.
