St Kitts and Nevis welcomes Dominica’s first Olympic Gold Medalist Thea LaFond-Gadson

St Kitts and Nevis welcomed Dominica’s first Olympic Gold Medalist Thea LaFond-Gadson to the island. The triple jump athlete is on a trip to the twin island nation ahead of the 9th Annual Growth and Resilience Dialogue.  

The Annual Growth and Resilience Dialogue is being hosted in Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium, ECCB. The dialogue is to be hosted for two days on April 10, 2025 and April 11, 2025 with Thea Lafond serving as the featured speaker.  

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) gave the Olympic Gold Medalist a warm welcome. The organization took the initiative to organize a welcome reception at the St Kitts Marriott Resort.  

The Government of St Kitts and Nevis was delighted to host the Olympian from the Commonwealth of Dominica. Thea LaFond, who made Dominica proud with her performance in the Paris Olympics 2024, is a source of inspiration to sportspersons and athletes all over the region. 

Her presence at the 9th Annual Growth and Resilience Dialogue is highly appreciated. As featured speaker, Lafond-Gadson will speak about her experiences in the athletics ground. 

The attendants will be able to take inspiration from the young woman who has achieved a major milestone in her field. She can be an inspiration in hardwork and dedication, which have helped her grow both as a person and an athlete.  

The government of St Kitts and Nevis, represented by the Minister of Sports, et al Samal Duggins also accorded the youngster a warm welcome. The Minister of Sports was also accompanied by the Minister of State for Youth Empowerment, Isalean Phillip.  

Ambassador of Sports, Kenneth Douglas OECS Director-General, Dr. Didacus Jules and the President of St. Kitts Nevis Athletics, Delwayne Delaney were also some of the attendants at the welcome reception.  

The Kittitian sports fraternity was delighted to interact with Lafond- Gadson at the event. The Ministry of Sports and the wider fraternity gathered at the St Kitts Marriott Resort to celebrate the young athlete and gave her a taste of the Kittitian hospitality.
