The roads across the various communities of St Kitts and Nevis have seen significant improvement in the last two years. The Drew led administration, which has reached the halfway mark of their administration, shared that they have invested approximately $80 million in the road infrastructure projects.
The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Konris Maynard made the announcement, he also highlighted the achievements they have achieved during their tenure since the administration took office in August 2022.
The officials have shared that the people of the various communities have been waiting for rehabilitation of their roads. The condition of the roads in some of the communities was bad.
The travel and movement were becoming difficult which prompted action from the administration. The Minister of Public Works has shared that the government is responsible for the largest road infrastructure expansion project.
The officials have shared that no other administration in St Kitts and Nevis had recorded this achievement. Minister Konris Maynard has shared that they have committed $80 million to critical roadworks.
The Basseterre Bay Road East, Boyds Village, Market Street, Sproat Street, Fortlands are some of the roads which have benefitted from the project. The officials have shared that it is important to make sure that the roads of the various communities are up to par.
In the last two and a half years, the administration of the country has spent one year on the construction and rehabilitation work. The department of public work has confirmed that they faced several issues, and the equipment also needed support.
The Minister of Public Infrastructure has shared that the road rehabilitation project will be going on in the future. The officials have shared that the project has also been taken to the community housing projects.
They are constructing concrete roads in the community housing projects in the country. The government is investing over $30 million in this initiative and also investing time and energy in the F. T. Williams Highway East up to Ogees Ghaut in St. Peter’s.
