St Kitts and Nevis police has charged 21-year-old Rennell Daniel of Westbury for causing the death of 42-year-old Melisa Lawrence of New Castle by dangerous driving.
Following an autopsy report on Lawrence’s body on Tuesday, it was concluded that she died due to a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in the lungs) which was caused due to a fractured leg as a result of a road mishap.
Lawrence was one of four passangers of a vehicle that was involved in a road accident on January 01. The accident took place along the island’s Main Road in Cotton Ground, Nevis. The accident involved motor jeep (P6654) which is owned by Terrance Wyatt of New Castle, however, police has comfirmed that it was being driven by accused Rennell Daniel.
Police statement sayd that the circumstances are that at around 4:20 am the vehicle was traveling in the direction of New Castle and collided with a wall when it got in the vicinity of Nelson’s Spring. The driver and other three passengers were taken to the Alexandra Hospital for medical attention.
On January 15, Daniel was charged for the offences of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License and Driving Without Insurance.
