Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, hosted a number of meetings for the various departments working in St Kitts and Nevis. He met with the Workers Union, which had submitted several complaints from the workers detailing their issues and grievances.
The Prime Minister engaged in the meeting with the Workers Union. Several workers also attended the session directly. They had the chance to meet the Prime Minister and communicate their issues and problems directly with Dr Drew.
During the meeting, he communicated that his SKNLP government had started the process for severance payments for the workers who were released from their services for not taking Covid-19 Vaccines but were not paid the severance that they were due to receive.
In the meeting, Dr Terrance Drew took the opportunity to inform the workers about the progress which has been made. He also reported that several workers had already received their due payments.
During his election campaign, The Prime Minister had promised to work on solving the issue of unpaid severance. According to PM Dr Terrance Drew, their government has started working on delivering the promise.
Following the Workers’ Union meeting, the Prime Minister also shared information about the session on his Facebook Profile.
He wrote: The process has begun for severance payments for those workers who were released from their duties for not taking the COVID-19 vaccine and did not receive severance payments.
I met with the Union that represented most of the workers who submitted their complaints along with several of the workers themselves, to update them on the progress. Several have already received compensation and the process is ongoing.
This is a commitment we made prior to obtaining office and it is my mission to fulfill that promise.
Further, Dr Drew, who is also the Minister of Health for St Kitts and Nevis also met with the management team of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Through this meeting, Dr Terrance Drew hoped to continue strengthening the institution and government relationship.
According to the Prime Minister, the discussions held between them was fruitful. He further added that he looks forward to continuing this partnership.
