The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew met with the Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) Dr. Manuel Otero. The meeting was hosted on the sidelines of the Agriculture Open Day and Marine Expo.
The leaders met with the aim of discussing the advancements in the Agriculture sector and discuss the work that has been done in the country for the development of the sector in the last three years. During the meeting, Prime Minister took the opportunity to highlight the vision and leadership of Dr. Manuel Otero.
Dr Drew also highlighted that Dr Otero has done significant work in strengthening the agriculture sector across the Caribbean region. Currently, the IICA Director General is attending the Caribbean Week of Agriculture which is being hosted in St Kitts and Nevis.
The attendance of the high level official in the Caribbean Week of Agriculture is a testament to the growth and significance of St Kitts and Nevis Agriculture sector. The meeting was a reflection on the tenure of Dr Manuel Otero as the Director General of the IICA.
The organization has played a highly crucial role in improving the status of agriculture not only in St Kitts and Nevis, but also the rest of the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, the Caribbean Week of Agriculture, which was hosted in St Kitts and Nevis for its 19th edition was a major success. The members of the administration have shared that the meetings and discussions which took place during the week were most beneficial for the long term growth of the sector.
The leadership of St Kitts and Nevis, Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins and his team have made the event a remarkable success.
