St Kitts and Nevis saw another faux protest against the administration spearheaded by the members of the opposition. This time, the farmers of the country were made the face of unrest by the agents of the opposition.

On Thursday, a small group of people were seen conducting a peaceful protest across the road from the official opening of the 30th Agriculture Open Day and Marine Expo. Several dignitaries from across the region were in attendance to commemorate the thirty-year milestone.

Considering this, the protest comes across as an attempt to undermine the achievements of the administration and paint the positive day in a bad light. These protesters, small in numbers and smaller in substance stood in sharp contrast with the farmers inside the event.

At the opening of the 30th Agriculture Open Day and Marine Expo, the farmers and Marine stakeholders of the country were showcasing what is being termed as the very best of the Agricultural potential of St Kitts and Nevis.

Outside, the protesters were joined by PAM Candidate Azard Gumbs in demanding urgent addressal of their grievances. The presence of an opposition candidate in what is being projected as a grassroots protest seeking genuine redressal makes it clear that the event was politically motivated.

The event which was allegedly aimed towards seeking redressal for the problems from the administration should have been about the problems of the farmers, instead, it was a political show with PAM Candidate Azard Gumbs at its forefront.

Another proof of the political motivations of this protest comes from the fact that the PLP, who have had no part in the protest on the face of the mater, took to their social media to share glimpses from this protest.

With this the opposition is using the farmers for their own agendas and defaming the administration.

The turnout to this alleged peaceful protest was another proof of the fact that the opposition has not been successful in inciting the public against the administration. The opposition has not been able to incite the people, as is proven by their previous attempt at the Nationwide Protest.

At this point, the opposition is growing desperate in their attempts to discredit the administration of the country. The regular protests, the chaos that look invited and  staged are not good for the overall stability of the nation.
