Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis led a delegation of Ministers and government officials to Jamaica. The delegation is attending the 49th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The meeting is being held from July 6 to 8, 2025 with the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness will be taking the chairmanship of the CARICOM for a six month period. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has shared that the CARICOM meeting served as an opportunity for the leadership of the region to come together and interact with one another.
The delegation which is accompanying the Prime Minister in this event includes Denzil Douglas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis. Naeemah Hazelle, Permanent Secretary in the office of the Prime Minister is also in Jamaica with Dr Drew;
Javon Liburd, who works as the Press Secretary to the Prime Minister and Viera Galloway, Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, Bjorn Hazel, Senior Foreign Service Officer are also part of the delegation. During 49th meeting of the CARICOM, the leaders of the region will be engaged in diplomatic meetings.
They will interact with leaders of the CARICOM member states and discuss areas of mutual importance to the states. Regional cooperation, sustainability, and economic resilience will remain on the forefront of the agenda.
The Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and his delegation will be engaged in several important meetings with their regional counterparts. They are expected to work for new areas of collaboration and partnership within the Caribbean.
The meetings with the leadership of the Caribbean region will help Dr Terrance Drew and St Kitts and Nevis work towards the country’s Sustainable Island State Agenda. The programme seeks to promote regional unity and scope out newer avenues for development.
