The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, recently shared a snapshot of himself at the front steps of the house of St Kitts and Nevis’ First National Hero, Sir Robert Llewelyn Bradshaw. The prime Minister took the opportunity to share that the house will soon be turned into a museum in honour of the first national hero of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Government of St Kitts and Nevis has started to work on restoring the house as a prominent historical monument in the country. The house’s remodelling into a museum honouring the legacy of Sir Bradshaw will also serve as an important tourist destination for the twin-island federation.
The restoration work on the house started before 2015. However, due to certain circumstances, it had to be halted. Now, the government, under the leadership of Dr Terrance Drew, has restarted the process. Accordingly, several social media users have expressed their excitement at the news.
They further said they look forward to visiting the site once the museum is ready. Social media users in St Kitts and Nevis have accordingly taken the opportunity to thank Prime Minister Terrance Drew and his team for taking the initiative. Sir Robert Llewelyn Bradshaw is one of St Kitts and Nevis’s most prominent historical figures. He was the first Premier of St Kitts and Nevis and played a crucial role in attaining political autonomy for the twin islands.
Sir Robert Llewelyn Bradshaw had an inspiring and eventful life, his contributions to various aspects of development in St Kitts and Nevis. The construction and remodelling of the house into a museum will help the newer generations of St Kitts and Nevis youths get an insight into the national hero’s life.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and his government has been trying to develop the tourism sector of St Kitts and Nevis economy. Accordingly, they have also made several allowances and investments in the industry. In the 2023 budget, the government allocated a sizable amount to the cause. The construction of Sir Robert Llewelyn Bradshaw Museum is one of the most prominent developments. In addition, the government has also started work on plans to introduce upgrades in the RLB or the Robert Llewelyn Bradshaw Airport.
