In the upcoming academic year 2022-23, and in the future, students attending Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) will receive free education.
While addressing the attending audience at the Swearing-in ceremony of his Cabinet of Ministers on August 13, 2022, at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew emphasized that education is the key to our children’s development and success and bright future of the federation.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis assured the public who had attended the swearing-in ceremony in person or via the internet that the SKNLP-led government could sympathize with the students.
He said that the government could understand the predicament of the students whose parents could not afford to pay the costs for them to attend Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College.
According to Prime Minister Drew, these hardships were caused mainly by removing funding and training programmes like REACH, initiated by the SKNLP administration back in 2014. However, these programmes were discontinued by the former government.
“The education of our children is simply too valuable to be wasted.” The prime minister emphasized.
The prime minister added, “Under the new Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, the government will invest more resources in our educational and training institutions.”
Better investment in educational resources will help equip our young students for twenty-first-century opportunities.
Therefore, Dr Drew said that St Kitts and Nevis’ Labour-led government would immediately start providing free tuition for ALL Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College students in the future,” the Honourable Prime Minister added.
The Prime Minister also made several other announcements at the swearing-in ceremony. He announced the government’s plan to lift all the covid-19 restrictions imposed on the country, as they no longer served a purpose, and it was no longer scientifically beneficial to keep following the limitations.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, Monday, August 15, 2022, marked the official first day of work for PM Terrance Drew’s new cabinet.
