Basseterre, St Kitts: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew welcomed the students and staff back to the Cayon High School after months of renovations and upgrades, ensuring safety and comfortable learning environment.
The Government of St Kitts and Nevis has officially announced the reopening of the Cayon High School and resuming of the face-to-face classes at the school campus.
The Prime Minister shared this information on his official social media and noted that the administration has invested heavily to get the school ready, ensuring that the students and staff are safe and comfortable.
Sharing about the updates, PM Drew said that the rehabilitation process has included extensive painting, construction work, the installation of new railings and furniture, the removal of wooden structures and extensive testing.
Notably, during the morning assembly on September 24, 2024, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Lisa-Romayne Pistana extended a warm welcome to all the students and went further to impart the academic criteria for success and a brighter future.
Principal Kayla Morris also conveyed her appreciation and stated that on the behalf of the school staff and students, they extend gratitude to the Ministry of Education for ensuring that they are able to return to an environment that is conducive to learning.
PM Terrance Drew mentioned that this marks the most substantial investment in the school in the past ten years, and the improvements will continue.
In addition to this, he also said that he spoke to Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley who assured him that St Kitts and Nevis is fully up to date with its payments to CXC.
As the Cayon High School transitions back to face to face learning, there is renewed sense of optimism and excitement among students, teachers, and parents.
