Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has assured that the Health Ministry of St Kitts and Nevis is consistent in its efforts to serve the nation’s well-being and its people. He shared that the nation’s health sector aims to meet the highest standards and bring enhancements and improvisations.

Earlier on Friday, PM Drew took to his official social media handle to empower and acknowledge his community people by highlighting some of the nation’s recent advancements regarding tackling health issues.

“We acknowledge that while our healthcare services aim to be of the highest standard, there are areas where improvements are not just desirable, but necessary,” he added.

Further, he ensured that the nation is committed to a policy of continuous improvement, recognizing, and addressing the system’s shortfalls with urgency and dedication.

He also stressed the nation’s efforts to advance the radiology department. “Understanding the critical role of diagnostic services in effective healthcare delivery, the Ministry has made substantial investments to expand and enhance the capabilities of our radiology department,” PM Drew further quoted.

Notably, this radiology initiative is part of the broader effort to ensure that the healthcare infrastructure meets and exceeds the community’s needs. According to the information, the nation’s radiology department has been progressing effectively.

To date, the national medical centre, JNF Hospital, has employed the highest number of Radiographers, with a total of 7 certified individuals and two radiologist staff members. This is a significant improvement to achieve the highest standards of health and facilitate the patients with accuracy in medications and the speed of diagnoses.

Additionally, the installation of the new fluoroscopy machine at JNF has already begun, and shortly, the acquisition and installation of MRI and CT scan machines will also be in progress. These enhancements will steadily improve the nation and the people of St Kitts and Nevis.

The nation’s Health Ministry is undertaking these initiatives to foster the medical needs of the individual and the country and take immediate actions in response to these issues, including thorough analysis and comprehensive reviews of diagnostics and treatment and well-equipped staff members.
