The Director-General of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Dr Didacus Jules, has congratulated Dr Terrance Drew, the newly elected Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis.
In his congratulatory message to Prime Minister Drew, Dr Jules said:
“On behalf of the OECS (Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States), I sincerely congratulate you and the St Kitts Nevis Labour Party on your victory at the August 5, 2022, national elections.
He further added, “This electoral victory demonstrates the confidence of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis in your vision for the progress and prosperity of the country.”
The director-general of OECS noted that Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew’s leadership comes at a time of “immense global uncertainty” resulting from a variety of factors, chief among them being the global pandemic Covid-19 and, more recently, the war in Ukraine.
He further noted that the war in Ukraine has triggered a disruption in the supply chain and a surge in commodity prices globally. He stated that “The OECS is aware of the economic impacts of these crises, particularly on the small and vulnerable states of the OECS, and the actions which must be taken to mitigate the effects. He assured that in that regard, the Commission and their staff remain highly committed to supporting St. Kitts and Nevis in efforts to address these and other related challenges.”
He addressed Prime Minister Dr Drew, saying that “I look forward to working with you in your capacity as Prime Minister and, as a member of the Authority of the OECS, to jointly shape and implement policies and strategies to realize a more prosperous and sustainable future for our region.
Finally, he expressed to the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis OECS and the Director General’s best wishes for every success in discharging his duties and responsibilities in his new role.
