Nevis Island Administration has distributed laptops and digital devices to students and teachers across the island. 1200 students and teachers on the island have received the digital products.
The initiative has been taken as part of their digitization efforts. The education of the newer generation should be in line with the modern-day needs. The education sector of the island has to align with the standards of the 21st century and support youngsters in their future goals.
The distribution exercise for the Laptops was done by the minister of Education, Troy Liburd. He was accompanied by several other representatives from the Ministry of Education in the Nevis Island Administration.
The Minister conducted the first phase of the distribution exercise was done in the Primary Schools of the island. Through this donation exercise, the government wants to reaffirm their commitment to get the students ready for a digital world.
The officials have shared that the Department of Education in Nevis Island Administration have been working diligently to provide digital literacy to the youngsters. The officials have shared that it is important for the national leaders to take a leap in this regard.
The Minister of Education, Troy Liburd highlighted that he was proud to have been a part of this exercise. He said that NIA understands that the future lies in digitization and that he is proud of the fact that the administration is working in this direction.
The Nevis Island Administration is not only talking about digitization like a distant process but actively making efforts to include digitization in the lives of the youth. The Minister also acknowledged that the youngsters should be given access to digital products irrespective of their background.
The youth of the country should be given digital literacy through safe means and measures so that they can make good use of the knowledge that they get. The distribution of laptops will also move to the secondary and tertiary education students to allow them access to modern facilities which will prepare them for the needs of the modern world.
