Mauriel Knight managed to retain his post as President of the St Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA) following its Annual General Meeting which was hosted on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Results from Sunday’s Annual General Meeting will see Malakhi Ferguson continuing as Vice President. Duanna Bradley will continue in her role as General Secretary; and Jalen Monzac as Treasurer. Hasani McDonald has been elected as Public Relations Officer. He succeeded Devonne Cornelius.
The electoral process came through under the supervision of the Chairman of the Electoral Council, Dennis Knight, and honorary members Sam Condor and Dwyer Astaphan.
The Annual Meeting was themed “Innovation, Compassion, Integrity: Building Our Future, Securing Our Legacy.”
Mauriel Knight, President for the 2021-2022 SKNYPA year presented his End of Year Report. In the report, he listed some of the significant accomplishments of the Association. These accomplishments included:
- Establish formal relations with the National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda.
- Diplomatic talks with the Youth Parliament of Montserrat.
- Increased participation from Nevis
“When I was elected a year ago, I committed to everyone that the confidence placed in me as the youngest individual to be elected president would not be taken for granted.” The re-elected President of the Youth Parliament Association stated.
He added that I made promises of integrity, transparency, and accountability, and I am pleased to report that I have done what I said and accomplished what I promised.
Special mention was made of Patrice Harris, Haniff Charles, Kerissa Roberts, Leanne Knight, Azuree Liburd and Devonne Cornelius, who are leaving as General Members of the Association. Mauriel Knight recognised and thanked them for their years of service to the Association.
Isalean Phillip, Junior Minister responsible for Youth Empowerment in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, was the Featured Speaker. She is an alumni of SKNYPA The 21st Annual General Meeting occurred at the CUNA Caribbean Conference Center at the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions Headquarters. General Secretary Bradley chaired the meeting. Former SKNYPA President Azilla Clarke was also in attendance at the meeting.
