Saint Kitts and Nevis and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh have established diplomatic relations on 31st August 2020, through their Embassies in Washington, DC further exercising the mandate of the Government to widen its diplomatic footprint.
A Joint Communiqué was signed by the People’s Republic of Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United States His Excellency Mohammad Ziauddin and St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to the United States Her Excellency Dr Thelma Phillip-Browne.
Bangladesh is situated in South Asia which is bordered by India to its north, east and west, the Bay of Bengal to its south and Myanmar to its southeast.
Saint Kitts and Nevis and Bangladesh share a common history of British colonization and also an affinity for Cricket.
These countries also share many common values espoused by members of the global community. The two countries have also collaborated on issues at the multilateral level, including matters regarding the United Nations and the Commonwealth.
With the formalizing of relations, it is expected that the bilateral connection between the two countries would be further strengthened.
