St Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Public Infrastructure and Utilities, Transport, Information Communication Technology (ICT), and Post, Konris Maynard, is currently in the Bahamas representing St Kitts for the 31st Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA).
Minister Konris Maynard is accompanied by Water Manager and Engineer of the St. Kitts Water Services Department, Cromwell Williams.
The manager at the Nevis Water Department, The Santonnya Mills and Technical Officer at the Nevis Water Department, Clyde Maynard, represent the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) at the event.
According to the Minister of Public Infrastructure and Utilities, Konris Maynard, his attendance at the meeting is a stepping stone as St Kitts and Nevis deal with the challenges the nation faces concerning our water supply. Further, Minister Maynard prepares to give an update on the way forward to restore the 24-hour supply of Water”.
Further, the minister stated that he would also participate in the Ministerial High-Level Forum (HLF). This event is the only meeting of Caribbean Water Ministers.
At the HLF, Ministers have an opportunity to share experiences and ideas to address water issues affecting the region and individual countries. These ideas are shared in pursuit of the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Minister Konris Maynard said, “The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has funded his participation in this conference.”
During the conference, St Kitts and Nevis representatives will be allowed to interact with and engage leading experts and professionals of the industry.
These professionals include engineers, contractors, policymakers, and regional and international financial institutions. They share experience and ideals in addressing water issues affecting their countries and the region.
The event of High-Level Forum (HLF) is unmatched. It is presently the only meeting of Caribbean Water Ministers.
The HLF is a joint initiative of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) and the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C).
The initiative was started in 2005 as a session within the CWWA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition.
