The police force of St Kitts and Nevis has started the investigation into the shooting incident which took place in the Gingerland community. The victim of the incident escaped with wounds due to an apparent malfunction of the weapon. The team of police officials received reports of a shooting incident in the community.
The official sources revealed that the incident left a community resident, identified by the name of Terito Browne of Rawlins Village in Gingerland Nevis, with a gunshot wound in the arm. The assailants aimed to kill him. However, he was able to escape when the gun did not work on the first attempt.
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police revealed that the shooting incident occurred on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in Gingerland area of Nevis. The law enforcement agencies took the opportunity to interview the victim, who is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. He shared that when he entered his home on Sunday, some masked, armed assailants surrounded him.
The incident took place around 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM. Further, they tried to shoot the victim. However, the weapon of the assailant malfunctioned at the last minute. The victim sustained a wound in his left arm due to this stroke of luck and fortune. He was wounded during his attempt to escape the assailants. As per the victim, the assailants fired several shots after him as he tried to escape.
The victim is currently in the Alexandra Hospital and receiving critical treatment at the medical institution. The team of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis police force shared that they have started the pre-eliminary investigation into the crime incident.
The Crime Scene Unit processed the scene of the incident i n Gingerland and collected items of evidential value. The police shared that the investigation into the matter is ongoing. Additionally, the police force shared that they will keep the public informed about the developments in the investigation as and when new information appears.
