China believes that Tibet has always been a part of the mainland. Thus the country denies the existence of Tibet’s culture and history. This claim by the republic of china is backed by an illegitimate claim signed in 1951.
The Tibetan press reports that the Agreement on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet, alternately known as the 17 Point Agreement, was signed on May 23, 1951. The press believes that the two countries signed the agreement in the presence of an individual who did not have the authority to represent Tibet
At the time of the signing, the Republic of China had pledged to safeguard and protect the religion of Tibet. They also promised to keep the ethnic groups’ local practices unhindered. The Tibet press further reports that The two nations signed the agreement through coercive means. Consequently, the deal does not hold any legal legitimacy.
Meanwhile, there was noncompliance on China’s part, which led to the Tibetan uprising of 1959. China crushed the rebellion. However, it led to the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet fleeing to India.
According to the report from Tibet Press, China is in constant noncompliance with the agreement that legitimizes China’s claim on Tibet. However, they have also vowed to rid the Tibetans of having any aspirations of a liberated future.
They have done this by introducing Communist policies. They have enforced regressive sensitization measures by forcefully assimilating its ethnic population in Tibetan regions. By doing this, the Chinese authorities attempted to cleanse Tibetan culture from the sacred land,” the Tibet Press states.
Further, the Chinese administration has always attempted to declare the successor of the 14th Dalai lama of Tibet.
