Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) achieved a clean-sweep win in the Nevis region, having elected all three of their nominated candidates in Constituency 9, 10 and 11 of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Premier of Nevis, and leader of CCM, Mark Brantley, was re-elected to Constituency #9 for another term, having defeated Dr Patricia Bartlette, Candidate of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), by four hundred and six (406) votes. Dr Bartlette secured a total of one thousand two hundred and seventy-nine (1279) votes from the Ninth constituency. The Moral Restoration Movement (MRM) candidate managed to secure seventy-seven (77) votes from the constituency.
Following the declaration of the result, Premier Mark Brantley took to his official Facebook account to thank the residents and voters of the three constituencies in Nevis for resting their faith in the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and re-electing them for another term.
His post read:
“Good morning to all the people of Nevis. Please accept my profound gratitude for reposing your trust and confidence in the Concerned Citizens Movement once again and allowing us to be your voice in Basseterre.”
He added that The Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) has always trusted Nevis’s people, and tonight the people have spoken overwhelmingly and unequivocally in the party’s favour.
In a subsequent post on his Facebook account, he expressed his gratitude to the people of Constituency #9 for their continued faith in his representation and leadership. Premier Brantley thanked them for electing him as their representative one more time.
The captioned post read:
While I have thanked the Nevisian people for their support generally and congratulated them on their conduct during this election cycle, I use this opportunity now to thank the people of Nevis 9, St John’s and St Paul’s, for continuing to trust me as the best person to represent their interests in Basseterre.
Since my first Federal election in August 2007 and for the 15 years and the four elections since then, the people of Number 9 have repeatedly said that they have complete confidence in my servant leadership.
I am humbled by the overwhelming support and thank them for trusting me to always act in their best interest.
St John’s and St Paul’s, THANK YOU. I shall never disappoint you.
