The Ministry of Sustainable Development presented the Urban Resilience Plan for Greater Basseterre to the Cabinet This extensive 15-year plan aims to direct investments in strengthening the resilience of Greater Basseterre, which includes Basseterre’s downtown and the neighbourhoods around it.
According to the project, urban resilience is just the capacity of people, groups, organisations, companies, and systems to withstand, adjust, and prosper in the face of various shocks and strains.
The St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administrations vision is to establishing an Urban Resilience Development that protect residences, commercial buildings, and vital infrastructure from environmental threats. The plan intends to establish network of public spaces and creating a commercially vibrant heritage district as well as enhancing housing conditions. That’s the most focus of the plan.
Dr Denzil Douglas, the Foreign Minister is expected to travel with a delegation led by Prime Minister of St Kitts And Nevis Dr Terrance Drew this week to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the first-ever CARICOM-Saudi Arabia Summit on November 16, 2023. The Leaders from Saudi Arabia and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will come together for this historic occasion to have in-depth conversations of vital topics such as Promoting trade and investment in essential areas such as infrastructure, hospitality, renewable energy, climate change, and environmental sustainability. These vital topics are the primary goal of the summit.
Beyond fostering economic cooperation, the conference seeks to uphold shared values, promote interpersonal relationships, and honour cultural heritage. It is a significant turning point in developing relations between Saudi Arabia and the CARICOM countries.
