The Department of Agriculture in St Kitts offers a series of ‘Animal Nutrition Management’ training sessions through its Livestock Extension division. The programme is aimed towards livestock farmers. The Department of Agriculture, St Kitts, will host the programme’s first session and initiative at the Old Road Community Center on Monday, 19th June 2023.
Department of Agriculture announced some seminars set to be held during the year’s second quarter. The department has announced that these seminars will continue at The seminar will be held on the following days:

Delesha Huggins, Livestock Extension Officer responsible for Small Ruminants at the Department of Agriculture and facilitator, spoke with the Media and Communication Unit about the upcoming training. She expanded upon the importance of hosting the sessions. The sessions are focussed on the topic, ‘Animal Nutrition: The Fundamental Building Block of Animal Health and Productivity’.
She said, “This training aims to educate small ruminant farmers, farmers as a whole, about the importance of vitamin supplementation, why it’s necessary, and how the body utilizes these vitamins for important functions. These vitamins are used for important bodily functions.
If they’re deficient, they will cause different metabolic disorders that would cause the animal not to produce, become infertile, not gain weight and even die once these essential vitamins and minerals do not supplement. Because most, just like us, don’t get the necessary vitamins from the food we eat in our diet, so we have to increase.
She added that It’s the same thing with animals, but I don’t think farmers understand the importance of it. So these training sessions are to educate them about the importance and which vitamins are most important and beneficial for the animals.”
To register for the training, the Department of Agriculture asks interested persons to visit the Livestock Division at the Department of Agriculture.
The sessions are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
