The Honourable Vincent Byron, the Attorney General of St. Kitts and Nevis, is in support of the Anti-Proliferation (Financing of Weapons of Mass Destruction) Bill, 2020.
He said on August 13 during the sitting of the National Assembly, that what is being done today is ensuring that St. Kitts and Nevis has the required financial structure in place to combat the spread of the weapons of mass destruction.
He added that the bill is speaking to the financing by anyone of spreading, creating and using the weapons of mass destruction in pursuit of terrorism.
The Attorney General said that this is a fight against terrorism in its worst forms, against the evils of genocide and against the potential destruction of the human race in future.
The Honourable Attorney General added that as a democratic nation, St Kitts and Nevis firmly believes in meaningful conflict resolution, which involves useful dialogue and exchange of ideas.
He added that therefore, the nation should lobby against the use of all forms of chemical, biological and nuclear warfare.
This bill was passed on August 13, has been enacted to prevent, disrupt and criminalise the financing of the weapons of mass destruction.
