The United States Embassy in Barbados has issued a demonstration alert before the protest on Saturday.
Acknowledging that the locally organised demonstration in support of the protests in the United States as well as around the world after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, the Embassy has made the American citizens in Barbados aware that the demonstration will occur at the US Embassy Bridgetown, Barbados – Wildey Business Park.
On their official website, the Demonstration Alert stated that a demonstration by a group of protesters had been planned for Saturday, June 6 at 11.00 am in the vicinity of the United States Embassy.
It further added that the demonstrations might also occur elsewhere in the Eastern Caribbean region. People should exercise caution if they are in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests; even peaceful demonstrations may escalate.
The alert was issued on June 5, one day or hours prior to the protest.
The Caribbean Movement organised the protest for Peace and Integration (CMPI).
