The Armed Forces and National Police of the Dominican Republic have the orders to exert greater control over the movement of people in the streets of the country and to demand the people to use masks and gloves.
The Defense Ministry said on Saturday that the Armed Forces support the Ministry of Health and the Police to prevent the crowds of people on the roads and other public spaces to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The Defense Minister said that the permanent action would include placement of checkpoints in the sectors where people usually concentrate and also the areas which have high rates of crime and also preventive patrolling.
Teams have been distributed all over the country, and these teams consist of personnel from elite units, members of the Army, Navy as well as the Air Force of the Dominican Republic, in coordination with the Police, to participate in the control tasks to mitigate the spread of the virus and control the movement of the people.
