On Wednesday, Cuba delivered a batch of drugs to help fight COVID-19 to Vietnam.
Among the batch was Interferon Alpha 2B, which is a Cuban drug of proven efficiency in treating patients suffering from COVID-19.
Cuba’s Ambassador to Hanoi, Lianys Torres said the batch of drugs was one of several gestures of support between Cuba and Vietnam amid the pandemic, which also shows the commitment to a common response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The diplomat added that despite the US sanctions and as a developing country, Cuba had developed its biopharmaceutical industry for the welfare of the Cuban people as well as the other nations.
Torres said that this is good ground for the expansion of bilateral cooperation, to contribute to the comprehensive exchange between Cuba and Vietnam, which would celebrate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2020.
Colonel-General Nguyen Vinh Chin, Deputy Defense Minister, after he expressed gratitude for the donation, said that Vietnam is also benefiting from Cuba’s experiences in fighting the COVID-19 through videoconferences as well as the exchanges of criteria.
