Cricket West Indies (CWI) brought together some initiatives in 2025 like international expertise and regional talent to strengthen the performance of both the players and coaches, enhancing the standard of West Indies cricket at all levels.
These initiatives by Cricket West Indies are aimed to ensure that the region’s cricket remains competitive and aligned with modern cricket demands.
Initiatives by CWI
The first two initiatives – High Performance Batting Spin and Spin Bowling Camp that began from January 11 and ended on January 17, was focused mainly on the players’ batting techniques against spin bowling and on enhancing their bowling capabilities while focusing on their wrist spin. The programs included 30 most promising players of the region.
The third initiative was a Coaching Symposium held at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua from January 13 – January 15, aimed at enhancing skills of regional coaches on their requirements for developing and managing players while also empowering and enabling a collaborative learning community among coaches to achieve better outcomes.

CWI Director, Miles Bascombe appreciated these initiatives and stated that they are a strategic investment in West Indies cricket’s future, ensuring both the current and next generation of players are developed with cricket professionalism and modern cricket demands.
The Coaching Symposium
The symposium featured the newly appointed West Indies Head Coach Daren Sammy as one of the six presenters during the three day meeting with coaches from Chennai Super Kings Academy joining CWI Coaching Development Consultant James Davidson in giving lectures.
Eleven franchise coaches and two from the Combined Campuses and Colleges team were present at the symposium.
Chennai Super Kings Six-day intensive programs
Head Coach of Chennai Super Kings, Sriram Krishnamurthi and spin bowling Coach Amir Rashid, a six-day intensive program was initiated to enhance participants’ skills.
The program was aimed at players like Matthew Nandu (Guyana), Kirk McKenzie (Jamaica), and Kevin Wickham (Barbados), to build their experience at Chennai Super Kings Academy in India last December.
Chennai Super Kings Academy provides a uniform coaching facility with great infrastructure to train indoor and outdoor for both men and women, with centers not only in Chennai, India, but also in Reading (United Kingdom), Dallas (United States), and Sydney (Australia).
