Two organizations in Auburn are packing and sending 40,000 meals together to families in Haiti.

St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish and Cross Catholic Church started packing the meals on Tuesday afternoon along with volunteers. Once complete, the meals would be sent to their partners in Haiti to be given out to the families.

Food packing coordinator Gus Cruz said that they are thankful.

He said that they are thankful for all the volunteers who are helping them. It is so exciting to see all the different types of people, young, old, different types of generations coming together and becoming one.

He added that they are thinking about the families and the children more than they are thinking about themselves. So, they are giving their time to help. So, they are thankful for them.

Organizers said that COVID-19 safety guidelines were followed during the packing event.
