Joe Biden is the President-elect, and Kamala Harris is the Vice President-elect of the United States and leaders around the world congratulated them on their victory in the US elections.

After massive campaigns by both sides, the US witnessed a nailbiting election battle between Democratic nominee Joe Biden and incumbent President Donald Trump.

With record mail-in ballots being polled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the results were inconclusive on November 3, as millions of ballots were yet to be counted.

However, as the states that were pending turned blue for Biden, and his home state Pennsylvania earmarked him as the 46th President of the United States.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Biden and Harris. He said from his official Twitter handle that he is looking forward to working with them.

In the statement, Trudeau mentioned the ‘extraordinary’ relationship that Canada and the United States share and emphasized how they can further build on this foundation.

He said in the statement that He congratulates Kamala Harris and Joe Biden on their election as the next Vice President and President of the US on behalf of the Canadian government.

Trudeau added that Canada and the US enjoy an extraordinary relationship which is unique on the world stage. The shared geography, common interests, and substantial economic ties make the countries close friends, partners, and allies.

He said that they would build further on this foundation as both the countries continue to keep the people safe and healthy from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and work towards advancing peace and inclusion, economic prosperity, and climate action around the globe.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi also congratulated Biden on his victory in the 2020 US Election and becoming the next to-be President of the US unseating incumbent Donald Trump.

PM Modi tweeted a photo of him and Biden from his visit to the US when Biden was Vice President for Barack Obama’s government.

PM Modi hailed Biden’s contributions to strengthening India-US relations. The PM has also congratulated Indian-origin Kamala Harris who would be the first woman Vice President of the US and highlighted the significance of her achievement.

Many other leaders from around the world also congratulated Biden and Harris on their victory.
