St Kitts and Nevis secured two gold medals at the Barbados International Junior Tennis Tournament, hosted at the Raymond Forde National Tennis Center. Both the wins were recorded by 12 year old Chezelle and Alyella during the same tournament as they both brought laurels to the nation.
Chezelle won her title on the day of her birthday and captured the Girls 12 & Under Division A title with a decisive 4-2, 4-2 victory. She was at the time playing against fellow player of St Kitts, Cherika Flemming in the final.
Throughout her title run, Chezelle remained undefeated and continued to dominate the game during the round robin stage. She faced the competitors from Antigua and St Kitts and Nevis. Her game within the Semi Finals and finals.
On the other hand, 9 year old Alyella also performed remarkably during the course of the tournament as she competed in Mixed Gender 12 & Under Division B.
The young girl of 9 years old faced exclusively male opponents from Grenada, Barbados, and Antigua across five matches. She defeated all her competitors and secured the title with a 4-2, 4-2 win over Jerimiah York of Grenada.
Both the girls are highly talented and have potential to grow up into the sport as remarkable young girls. They are the daughters of Minister Konris Maynard, which adds another amazing layer to their talent in the game as they are talented, disciplined and work with excellence both on and off the court.
The two young girls have made the nation proud with their performance within the regional tennis stage with their undefeated runs. Other members of the team also showed remarkable strength and talent during the tournament.
Tzuriel Percival managed to win the runner-up positions in both Boys 14 & Under Singles and Doubles
Shreya Rawat also managed to finish as a runner-up in both Girls 14 & Under Singles and Doubles
Finally, Zhajid Richards won the the Boys 12 & Under Division A consolation title.
