The St. Kitts Electricity Company Limited SKELEC made a new announcement sharing an update on the installation of the new digital meters. In the announcement the organization shared that they are moving forward to Block 2 for installation of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure AMI meters.
The organization made the announcement online on their official social media handle. The SKELEC stated, “We’re moving forward Block-2 We’re coming to you”. The installation of the new meters is already ongoing as it is scheduled to take place from Saturday July 11 to Friday 31, 2026.
In the block-2 Market Street including Freeman Village, College Housing, Shadwell Housing, Wades Garden, Soho and Dorset Village will be covered by the SKELEC representatives. The organization requested the area’s residents to coordinate with representatives for smooth installation of the new meters.
Moreover, they also suggest and encourage the people to make sure that their old and traditional meter locations are clear, safe and easily accessible to workers. As it helps the representative to work fast and complete the installation with efficiency without any delay.
SKELEC further explained that during the time of installation of the new AMI meters there will be brief interruption to households’ electricity service. The organization also stated that it is not necessary for individuals to stay present at their home during the installation, they just have to make sure that the old meters location is safe and easily accessible to workers.
Additionally, the Organisation expressed that they are committed to working with the Block-2 communities and mentioned that the initiative reflects their vision of making St. Kitts electricity infrastructure advanced and developed. The SKELEC said “We look forward to working with the communities in Block-2 as we continue this important step towards modernising St. Kitts electricity infrastructure”.
Notably, before starting work on Block-2 the organization covered the area of Block-1 which included Greenland, Fry’s Village, Croton Place, Hibiscus and Needmust was covered.
