St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority has installed a new Daifuku Baggage Carousel System in Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport. A ceremony was held at the airport Customs hall on Monday 27, April 2026.
The installment of the new system strengthens the infrastructure of the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport. The system also reflects the twin islands ongoing commitment of making the nation modern and moving forward to match with international airports qualities.
According to officials, the investment will not be apparent through naked eyes but visitors can feel the experience being upgraded after the installation. The new upgrades include stronger reliability, smoother operations, and significantly reduced waiting time at the belt.
The new system is expected to boost the passenger flow, reduce wait times, and to improve the overall service delivery. The system is also energy-efficient, and aligns with the vision of the government and supports the Federation’s Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA) and helps in long term environmental goals.
The installment of the Daifuku Baggage Carousel System was a three week process, which started on 12 March, 2026. Marsha Henderson, Minister of Tourism of St. Kitts and Nevis said that the investment reflects the federation’s commitment towards development in the nation with efficiency, sustainability and in enhancing the passengers’ experience.
She said, “The installation represents a deliberate commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and an enhanced visitor experience, reinforcing the airport’s role as the gateway to the federation.”
Jonathan Bass, Chairman of the SCASPA stated that the installment highlights that the old processes are being upgraded and being taken towards advancement. He said the system is low-friction technology based, which helps the passengers reduce their time in the waiting line. Bass said, “The transition to the Daifuku Low Friction Drive system represents a critical technology upgrade moving away from outdated, high maintenance infrastructure toward a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable solution”.
In the ceremony a special recognition was given to the members who make the instalment of the system successful including Dwight Toussaint, technical expert and Calvin Duggins, Chief Operations Officer.
Additionally, the ceremony was attended by government officials, members of the SCASPA Board of Directors. Prominent tourism and aviation stakeholders and representatives from the Sectus Technologies also attended the ceremony.
