Samal Duggins, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources recently visited the senior citizens of the Challengers community. During his visit to the community he connected with senior individuals personally.
The Minister shared the details of his visit online on his official social media handle yesterday Thursday August 6. In the post he shared that he went to the challengers community for one of his special initiatives “Monthly Senior Sundays Visits”.
He said, “On Sunday we continued one of the initiatives closest to my heart-our monthly Senior Sundays visits throughout the Challengers community”.
He further explained that during his visit to the community they had conversation with seniors individuals and distributed the care packages among the senior citizens. He also mentioned that through the visit they want to convey the message within senior citizens that they are an important part of the community.
He stated, “It was a privilege to spend time with our elderly, the sick, and the shut-ins as we delivered care packages, shared conversations, and reminded them that they remain a valued and cherished part of our community”.
Minister Duggins stated that the visit was not just about the distribution of care packages, the visit was more about acknowledging the efforts and hard work that community elders put in the development of the community. He said, “They are about showing love, offering encouragement and ensuring that those who have contributed so much to our communities know they are not forgotten”.
Additionally, Vincia community volunteer from the Challengers community accompanied the minister Samal Duggins during the Monthly Senior Sundays Visits. Minster Duggins also extended his gratitude to Vinca and admired her efforts in making the visit successful.
He said, “A special thank you to Vincia for her invaluable assistance and continued support in helping us carry out this meaningful initiative”.
