Regional Delegations Arrive in St Kitts for Historic 50th CARICOM Meeting

The leaders from all over the Caribbean Region started arriving in St Kitts on February 23, 2026. The arrivals were in preparation for the beginning of the 50th Regular Meeting of the Heads of the Government of CARICOM. 

The first leader to arrive on island for the four day event was the President of Suriname, who was received by the Deputy Prime Minister of the country, Dr Geoffrey Hanley. On February 23, the arrivals of the other leaders from all over the region also began. 

Prime Minister of Curaçao, Gilmar Pisas also arrived on the island to attend the four day regular meeting on Sunday evening. He was given a warm welcome into the island by the Deputy Prime Minister of the country. 

The arrivals continued on Monday, with the Deputy Prime Minister, Attorney General Garth Wilkin and Senator Isalean Phillip extending welcome. The officers gave a warm welcome to the delegations accompanying the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, Premier of Anguilla, Cora Richardson-Hodge.

The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Godwin Friday was also given the St Kitts and Nevis welcome. The leaders as well as their delegations landed at the RLB International Airports’ the KayanJet Lounge. 

The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, and John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize were also welcomed by the Ministers  and government officials of St Kitts and Nevis. 

Premier of the Cayman Islands, Honourable Andre Ebanks, as well as the Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr. Carla Barnett. The officials have shared that the event will be hosted under the theme: “Beyond Words: Action Today for a Thriving, Sustainable CARICOM.” 

The event will serve as a platform for the leaders of the country to interact with each other and discuss advancing sustainable development, economic growth, and greater integration. This gathering of leaders is expected to be historic for the region. The 50th Regular Meeting of the Heads of the Government of CARICOM will run from February 24 to February 27, 2026.
