The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew visited the United States Navy ship, USS San Antonio. The Navy Ship was docked at the Port Zante on Monday, highlighting strong diplomatic ties between St Kitts and Nevis and the United States of America.
The officials have shared some images from the visit on the official government information service social media media. The Prime Minister was accompanying the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Barbados, Karin Sullivan.

The Prime Minister called the naval ship impressive and shared some details about the vessel. He also noted that the trip has been a proof of the relationship between the two nations. The officials have shared that the USS San Antonio is a large amphibious transport dock ship.
This vessel is designed for modern military operations and can carry Marines, aircraft, and heavy equipment. Dr Drew and Karin Sullivan toured the whole vessel and highlighted the improved aviation facilities of this ship.
These facilities include a hangar which accommodates a variety of helicopters and the MV-22 Osprey aircraft. The flight deck of the vessel will be used for the Marine Corps’ air assets The vessel also has a well deck for landing craft.
The vessel can launch and recover air cushion landing craft known as LCACs. The crafts are used for quick transporting cargo, vehicles and supplies.
The officials from the US Embassy in Barbados has clarified that with the docking of this vessel to St Kitts and Nevis is proof of the connection between the two nations is strong.
