Prime Minster Dr Terrance Drew received a courtesy call from the non-resident ambassador of Japan to St Kitts and Nevis on August 14. Miyasaka Yusuke visited the office of the Prime Minister with the aim of improving the cooperation between the two nations.
St Kitts and Nevis and Japan share a cordial relationship with each other in terms of international diplomacy. The Prime Minister shared that he was most delighted to receive the ambassador as they were able to discuss several issues of mutual importance.
The meeting sought to bring the government of St Kitts and Nevis closer to the Government of Japan in terms of supporting each other’s developmental avenues. Japan is a valued partner of international diplomacy for the twin island nation of St Kitts and Nevis.
This is proven by the fact that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Denzil Douglas is also going on a trip to Japan in the upcoming week. Dr Douglas will visit Japan from August 19 to 22 as the official guest of the Government of Japan.
While in Japan, Dr Douglas will participate in the National Day Event of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, on August 20. The official timelines for the Minister’s visit have been established by his Ministry press statement.
Meanwhile, Dr Terrance Drew shared some images from his meeting with the Japanese Ambassador on his social media. He shared that the meeting was short but crucial for the development of the relationship of St Kitts and Nevis and Japan.
Dr Drew highlighted that they discussed several issues of mutual importance during this short but important courtesy call. The ambassador of Japan and Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis promised to carry forward the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
They reaffirmed their commitment to support each other through development avenues in various sectors of the economy and improving their cooperation in the areas that both the nations are interested in growing in.
