Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew congratulated Gaston Browne for his reelection into the office of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda. The nation went into general election on April 30 with the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party and the United Progressive Party facing each other in the snap elections.
The General Elections, called nearly two years before the constitutionally mandated deadline after the previous elections took place in 2023. In the previous elections, Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, led by PM Gaston Browne were sworn into the administration of the country after winning elections with a narrow majority of 9 seats out of the total 17 seats within the General Assembly.
The 2026 snap elections which concluded two days ago led the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party into their fourth consecutive term in the office of the Prime Minister. The party was able to secure a landslide victory to enter the parliament with 15 seats in their bag.
One of the remaining two seats was secured by Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) and the United Progressive Party won the final seat.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew took to his social media to congratulate the ABLP on this unparalleled victory.
In his social media post, Dr Drew wished them well for their journey in administration. He expressed his confidence in the ABLP’s ability to lead the nation in their fourth consecutive term in the office.
Dr Drew also said that he is looking forward to working with the government of Antigua and Barbuda. “I look forward to continuing our collaboration, and to strengthening our shared efforts through CARICOM, as we work together to build a more resilient, united and prosperous Caribbean.” The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.
