The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has spoken to the people of the island during the recent national assembly sitting. The Prime Minister has provided an update on the various developments which have taken place under his Ministries. 

Talking about the updates in the Ministry of Health, Dr Drew said that the JNF General Hospital is undergoing upgrades in their electrical and water systems. This is the first time in several years athat the primary healthcare organizations of the has been undergoing these upgrades. 

The Prime Minister said that the electrical systems of the hospital have been upgraded in the previous month. The water systems will also be given attention and upgraded to align with the modern infrastructures of the country. 

These upgrades will help in making sure that the people who come to the hospital seeking medical help can enjoy the upgraded facilities. The strengthening of one of the most prominent primary healthcare institutions in the country is proof of the country’s strengthening healthcare sector. 

In addition to the upgrades in the JNF General Hospital, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis who handles the responsibility for the Ministry of Health, also confirmed that they will be starting work on the Basseterre Health Center. The Minister said that the health center is in need of major refurbishments.

Dr Drew has shared that the health facility has not seen proper upgrades and refurbishment in the last several years. Dr Drew has however promised that they will start the work in this regard soon. 

The healthcare sector of the country is set to receive significant upgrades with the various facilities. The Prime Minister also highlighted several other improvements within the sector including the decreasing mortality rate post covid-19 period.

The Prime Minister said that they are dedicated to making sure that the nation and its people have access to the best in line facilities with respect to healthcare. He noted that several improvements have been done in the matter.
