Minister of Creative Econony, Agriculture, et al, Samal Duggins led a group of students to an educational excursion to the MSC Virtuosa. The visit to the cruise ship was aimed towards informing the children of the island regarding the various career opportunities which exist within the Cruise tourism industry.

The children were part of Minister Duggins’s Finding Your Passion Scholarship who are part of his constituency 4. The Minister led an excursion to the cruise ship where the children had the opportunity to interact with the crew and the captain of the cruise ship.

The visit to the island served as an opportunity for the children to get a behind the scenes peek into the workings of the cruise tourism industry. The experience allowed the children to explore the kitchens, laundry and the storage operations of the cruise ship.

The children also saw the magnificent theatre of the ship and met with the captain of the ship who gave them career advice. The students also shared lunch on the ship and reflected on the experience that they had this day.

Thuvia Browne, served as chaperone for the tour and accompanied the children on board the cruise ship. The Minister of Creative Economy thanked Browne for the support that the children received from her. He also acknowledged that she has continued to play an important role in the development of the children.

The Minister shared several images from the day of excursion on his social media. He shared that the this is his way of giving back to the community as a scholarship had changed his life.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of the investments made in the youngsters of the country. He further noted that he hopes this experience can help in making daring decisions for their future and their careers.

The initiative of giving the children an insight into the future paths that exist within the sector has also been taken previously. The children of the country have been given opportunity to explore the career paths in the cruise industry with a similar excursion
