Terrance Drew Announces Fuel Tax Cuts and Relief Measures to Ease Cost of Living

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has announced that the new Climate Smart JNF General Hospital is well on its way. The construction team has started the geotechnical work on the soil where the construction of the hospital is to start. 

PM Drew has shared that  he said they have put a cemented volcanic layer in the site. This layer would offer a strong foundation for the hospital

They are preparing the stretch of land which is outlined following Camps, opposite the University of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Minister of Health asserted that the $200 million hospital is central to the country’s Sustainable Island State Agenda.

According to the Prime Minister, the construction project of the new state of the art, climate smart hospital, is underway. Talking about the technical aspects of the project, Dr Drew said that they are working with Valued Engineering and they have given a report to the authorities.

The report confirms that the basic work has been ongoing on the site where the construction of the hospital is set to begin. The engineer also claimed that the site is perfect for the construction of the hospital.

The nation would be able to construct a building that can withstand category five plus hurricanes. In this regard, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Drew has shared that creating a climate smart hospital is a longstanding goal of the administration. He asserted that the nation needs to protect themselves from the adverse affects of the Hurricane season.

The officials have shared that the national infrastructure of the St Kitts and Nevis needs to be ready for the event that the nation has to face a Category Five Hurricane. The nation has been working towards this mandate since the time that the Terrance Drew administration has taken office.

 The organization has shared that the Ministry of Health received the final certificate from the Development Control Planning Board (DCPB) in December 2025. The certificate covers the full set of working drawings for infrastructure, foundations, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems. 

After the approvals were given, finally the construction of the country’s new climate smart hospital has been progressing smoothly.
