Four major cruise ships docked at Port Zante on March 17, 2026. The ships brought 10,371 passengers to shores of the island in a single day, marking it one of the busiest day in the month of March so far.
The vessels, Brilliant Lady, Celebrity Eclipse, AIDAsol and Grand Princess docked at the port on Tuesday. The arrival of a large number of passengers has gone a long way in supporting local business, entrepreneurs, and communities.
The Celebrity Eclipse ships arrived from St. John’s Antigua with 3,055 passengers onboard as it docked, 2,740 passengers arrived into the island aboard Grand Princess, Brilliant Lady brought 2,405 passengers. Finally, AIDsol arrived from St. Maarten with a crowd of 2,171.The passengers numbers highlight the highest single-day visitors record for the island.
Monday, March 16 saw the arrival two major cruise ships, Arvia and Seabourn Ovation. The beginning of the cruise week on such a positive note impacted the flow of visitors on March 17. According to officials Basseterre became more active with the arrival of such large numbers of visitors. It creates strong business for vendors, taxi drivers and restaurants.
Officials also believe such busy cruise days play an important role in enhancing the local economy in the island in a short time. Port Zante’ s ability to handle such large ships with thousands of passengers highlights the strength of the port, which in turn reflects that they can handle more large vessels in future.
The passengers who came down from the ships explored the island with the scenic railways of St. Kitts. Tourists also explored Basseterre bustling streets and immersed themselves in duty-free shopping. Some of the passengers may also have gone to the scenic Frigate Bay which is popular for its golden beaches, water sports, and beach bars.
Another destination popular among tourists is the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where tourists can enjoy the panoramic views of the island and neighboring seas.
