The Department of Cultural Heritage is continuing their “We Village Dat” community outreach. The programme, started several months ago, was aimed at recognising people who have contributed to community development.
The initiative has reached the Halfway Tree community to celebrate and honour exceptional citizens of the community. People from all over the island have continued to be honored by the leaders of the island nation for their outstanding contributions to community development and national life.
The event was hosted on Thursday, May 21, 2026 where the people of the island who have contributed to the growth of the island. The officials of the Department of Cultural Heritage reached the Halfway Tree community.
The Minister of Creative economy, et al, Samal Duggins was also present at the We Village Dat initiative. They used the platform to recognise a distinguished group of residents whose dedication, talent, and service have made a lasting impact.
Honourees who were recognised during the Halfway Tree Community ceremony included:
Uriel Hensley who was recognised by the authorities for the contributions made in National Security (Police/Fire Officer)
Eugenia Johnson was recognised for her work in the field of the Arts (Organist)
Violet Jones was honored for the work that she has done in the field of Education (Teacher)
Wingrove Herbert was recognised for the work and contributions made in the field of National Security (Police Officer)
Alec George Warner was recognised for the work in the field of Entrepreneurship (Business)
Tesroy Greene was honored for the work done for the Skilled Carpentry & Joinery
Young Creatives of the community were also honored in the we Village Dat initiative:
Kaemarie Vera honored for her work as a Painter
Nesean Williams was also honored as a Masquerade Dancer
Veronica Charles was honored as a Community Spirit Awardee
Minister responsible for the Department of Cultural Heritage and Parliamentary Representative for the Half Way Tree Area, Samal Duggins, presented the awards. He also took the time to thank the honourees for their invaluable service and positive influence within the Halfway Tree community.
