Demarre Brown, a young boy from the Nevis was crowned as a National Champion after winning the St. Kitts and Nevis Chess Federation Competition last week. The Championship was organised by the St. Kitts and Nevis Chess Federation.
According to sources, Brown’s achievement in the championship gives him the opportunity to represent St. Kitts and Nevis at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad (Federation Internationale Des Echecs). This year the Olympiad is scheduled to take place from 15 to 28 September, 2026 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad is one of the prestigious and largest biennial team chess tournaments in the world. The tournament brings together national teams from across the world who will compete for the three titles, the Hamilton-Russell Cup, the Vera Menchik Cup and the Nona Gaprindashvili. In the championship players compete in 11 rounds under a grueling standard time-control Swiss system.
Moreover, the St. Kitts and Nevis Chess Federation has shared the details of the Women and Open team for the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2026. The details of the team selection was shared by them in their official social media platform.
In the Open team David Jeetlall, Demarre Brown, Kaeden Fyfield-Jones, Nohar Anganoo and Carl Adams will represent the twin islands in the tournament. In the Women’s team, Kaella Fyfield-Jones, Joy Williams, Isabella Jeetlall, Kennedi Kangalee and Latoya Fyfield-Jones will play in the tournament.
Additionally, in the tournament, every team has four players along with one reserved in both Open team and Women’s team. The St. Kitts and Nevis Chess Federation also shared that the selection of the team was based on the results of qualifying tournaments which were organised by them and qualifying games were concluded on Friday evening, 5 June, 2026.
