Antigua and Barbuda has welcomed the inaugural flight from Air Peace carrrying 25 passengers from Antigua. The flight bypassed Antigua and Barbuda and landed directly in Barbados due to come health caution that the administration of Antigua and Barbuda has mandated.
The passengers who were meant to land in Antigua will subsequently board a Air LIAT flight from Barbados. The officials have shared that they are exercising caution in the light of the recent Ebola outbreak in Africa.
The Prime Minister also recalled that the people of the island have faced some difficulties with Antigua Airways flights. The flights had some migrants traveling from Cameroon through Nigeria in 2022 and 2023. The Prime Minister has shared that they have been burned previously and are thus a little conscious.
The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda has shared that the health authorities of Antigua and Barbuda will closely monitor the the people who have come from Lagos on the Air Peace Flight. The administration of tge twin island wants to make sure that the passengers are screened upon arrival.
“What we will do, though, is to make sure that they’re properly screened as best we can,” PM Browne said. He explained during a radio interview that Antigua and Barbuda is reinstating enhanced public health measures.
The healthcare professionals will be using infrared thermal scanners and other protocols which were used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re putting new health protocols in place, going back to the COVID framework,” Browne said.
Last week, the government of Antigua and Barbuda announced the implementation of new measures. These initiatives have been put in place for enhancing public health safety.
