Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School has taken an initiative to appreciate school athletes for their achievements and hardwork. The school organized its first Athletes’ Appreciation Gala 2026 on Saturday 6, June 2026 at the St. Paul’s Community Centre.
The main purpose of the Gala was to honour, appreciate and celebrate the outstanding achievements including dedication, excellence and sportsmanship of the student-athletes. The theme of the gala was “Blue Dynasty: Legacy of Champions”.
Dr. Denzil L. Douglas also attended the school’s first gala and acknowledged the athletes’ hard work and discipline. He congratulated all the participants and awardees and extended his gratitude to the school Principal including staff and coaches.
He said, “Congratulations to all the awardees and participants, your accomplishments both on and off the field, are a source of pride and inspiration to the entire school community”.
The Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School shared the information about the celebration on their official social media page and praised athletes performances throughout the year and mentioned that the celebration is dedicated to students-athletes as they represented the Wolf Nation with passion, pride, discipline and excellence.
In their post they shared that schools athletes in Netball, Football (U14 and U20) and Track and Field represent the School colours with distinction. The school further acknowledged Dr Denzil Liewellyn Douglas’ support for school education and youth development.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Lisa Pistana, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Chief Education Officer, Francil Morris and Education Officer Boris Connor. The Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School authority also expressed gratitude to the guests for attending the ceremony.
Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School thanked their students including teachers, sponsors, parents, organizers and supporters. The school even mentioned their athletes’ efforts while representing the school in tournaments. The school said, “ To our student-athletes, thank you for giving us so many reasons to cheer, celebrate and believe. You made your school proud.
